The Student Success Emergency Fund is designed to offer one-time financial assistance to full-time students facing unexpected financial hardship. This fund helps students remain focused on their academic goals by providing support during unforeseen circumstances.
Eligibility Requirements:
To be considered, students must:
- Enroll full-time at UAM
- Be in good academic standing
- Demonstrate financial need with appropriate documentation
- Exhaust all other financial aid options
Important Guidelines:
- This fund cannot be used to pay current or past-due UAM tuition or fees.
- Approved funds (up to a maximum of $500) will be refunded directly to the student to cover the documented expense listed in the application.
- Applicants must submit documentation of the unexpected situation and total cost of the expense. Incomplete applications or those without documentation will be denied automatically.
- Students who receive funding must submit a receipt or proof of payment to the Financial Aid Office showing the emergency expense has been paid. Failure to do so may result in the funds being revoked.
Examples of Eligible Expenses:
- Emergency medical or dental expenses
- Unexpected car repairs needed to get to class
- Sudden loss of housing or urgent housing-related costs
- Replacement of essential belongings due to theft, fire, or natural disaster

The Textbook Assistance Program is available to students who are unable to purchase the required textbooks using their Financial Aid. This support is intended to help students stay on track academically by reducing the burden of out-of-pocket book costs.
Eligibility Requirements:
To be considered for textbook assistance, students must meet the following criteria:
- Exhaust all other financial aid options
- Enroll in and actively participate in the course(s) for which the textbooks are required
- Meet UAM’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards
Important Information:
Approval does not guarantee the full requested amount will be awarded
- Students should include tax costs when estimating their textbook costs
- The amount awarded will be the final total—any cost beyond that amount is the student’s responsibility
- Approved students will have one week to charge textbooks at the UAM Bookstore; after that time, unused funds will be forfeited
- Assistance is not available during the summer semester
- Funding is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis
