UAM Accreditation Continued By HLC

MONTICELLO, AR — A process that began three years ago was completed this week with the formal announcement that the University of Arkansas at Monticello’s accreditation status with the Higher Learning Commission will be continued.

Soprano Christie Conover To Perform At UAM September 17

MONTICELLO, AR — Soprano Christie Conover, the National Federation of Music Clubs’ 2015 Young Artist Winner, will present a solo performance September 17 at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Conover’s performance is being sponsored by the Southeast Arkansas Concert Association, the Monticello Music Club, the Pine Bluff Music Coterie and the UAM Division of Music. Admission is free.

UAM Adds Master’s Degree In Jazz Studies

MONTICELLO, AR — The first college or university in Arkansas to offer a bachelor’s degree in music with an emphasis in jazz is now the first to offer a master’s degree in the same subject. The University of Arkansas at Monticello, whose jazz ensembles have attracted national attention in the jazz community, is now offering a master of music degree in jazz studies.

School of Forestry and Natural Resources To Become Part of Statewide Research Center

MONTICELLO, AR — The School of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Arkansas at Monticello will become part of the new statewide Center for Advanced Surface Engineering (CASE) thanks to a $20 million grant from the National Science Foundation to the Arkansas Economic Development Commission’s Division of Science and Technology.

UAM Education Professor Elected To ArACTE Board

MONTICELLO, AR — Dr. Donna Hunnicutt, associate professor of education and graduate education coordinator in the School of Education at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, has been elected to a three-year term on the board of the Arkansas Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (ArACTE).
