Centennial Opportunity Fund To Finance Four Campus Projects

MONTICELLO, AR — Changing the Green Room of the John F. Gibson University Center to a user-friendly student hangout is one of four projects selected for funding from the University of Arkansas at Monticello’s Centennial Opportunity Fund.

Crossett Student Receives Woodmen of the World Scholarship

Christian Harris (left) of Crossett, a sophomore in the electromechanical technology-instrumentation program at the UAM College of Technology-Crossett, was recently selected to receive a $300 scholarship from the Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Company-Lodge 7. Making the presentation is Scott Kinard, Lodge 7 president. The Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Company-Lodge 7 established its first book scholarship to be awarded annually to a student at the UAM College of Technology-Crossett. The scholarship is presented based on grade point average, a strong work ethic and recommendations from faculty and staff.

MONTICELLO, AR — An article by Dr. Sharon Silzell, an assistant professor of history at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, has been selected as the article of the month by Feminae: Medieval Women and Gender Index.

Political Science Students Honored

MONTICELLO, AR — The University of Arkansas at Monticello inducted two political science students into the campus chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honors society, during a recent induction ceremony on the UAM campus.

Senior Art Exhibit Combines Photographs and Paintings

MONTICELLO, AR — A senior art exhibition by Maggie Barnett of Monticello will be on display November 17-29 in the Glassblock Gallery of the Taylor Library and Technology Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. An artist’s reception will be held November 17 from 2-4 p.m. and from 5-7 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Concert and Chamber Choirs To Present Concert November 17

MONTICELLO, AR — The concert and chamber choirs of the University of Arkansas at Monticello will perform with guest artists Andy Wen and Scott Bearden in a concert November 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.

UAM Baseball Coach Signs First Multi-Year Contract In School History

MONTICELLO, AR — John Harvey was rewarded for his success as head baseball coach at the University of Arkansas at Monticello Tuesday morning. Harvey became the first coach in school history to sign a multi-year contract when he inked a two-year agreement with automatic two-year rollovers through 2021. Harvey led UAM to a 40-16 record in 2016 that included the Great American Conference tournament championship and the school’s second-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II Central Regional Tournament. The Boll Weevils finished one victory away from earning a berth in the Division II College World Series.
