MONTICELLO, AR — Tonya Loe, an instructor of administrative office technology at the UAM College of Technology-McGehee, has been named 2016-17 vice president of the Arkansas Business Education Association (ABEA), an organization of business teachers in Arkansas.
MONTICELLO, AR — Retired U.S. Senator David Pryor (D-Ark.) and Skip Rutherford, dean of the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service will be the featured speakers at the next meeting of the Southeast Arkansas Political Animals Club September 29, according to Dr. John Davis, assistant professor of political science and director of governmental relations at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
MONTICELLO, AR — Parents and family members of University of Arkansas at Monticello students will be special guests of the university this Saturday as UAM celebrates Parent-Family Appreciation Day.
Seven students are currently taking advantage of scholarship funds made available by the Arkansas Department of Health to complete a one-semester course in emergency medical technician (EMT) training at the UAM College of Technology-McGehee. Following completion of the one-semester course, the students are eligible to continue to a three-semester program to earn a technical certificate as paramedics. MONTICELLO, AR — The UAM Sports Hall of Fame’s Class of 2016 covers five decades and four different sports. This year’s inductees — Meredith Heckel-LaRue (softball), Solon Mobley (basketball), Mac Newcomb (football), Joe Daw (baseball), and Paul Russell (football) — are among the most accomplished in their respective sports in school history with a long list of honors and records. Also scheduled to be honored is Larry Smith, who served as the school’s sports information director from 1961-78 and is a member of the NAIA Hall of Fame. Smith will receive the UAM Spirit Award.
MONTICELLO, AR — Ashley Newcomb of Royal and Synthia Scott of Searcy have been selected to receive the 2016-17 Robert C. Kirst Endowed Scholarship presented annually by the School of Agriculture at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
