UAM Jazz One To Perform Concert Celebrating Arkansans’ Influence on Jazz

The University of Arkansas at Monticello Division of Music will host a performance by UAM Jazz One, the university’s premier jazz ensemble, on Monday, November 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center on UAM’s Monticello campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
Directed by Dr. Kevin Bryson, director of jazz studies and assistant professor of low brass and jazz at UAM, this semester’s concert celebrates how Arkansans have shaped jazz music. The concert will feature music by Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, Pharoah Sanders and more.
UAM Jazz One will be joined by special guest artist Julia Buckingham on piano. Among her many accomplishments, Buckingham, a UAM alumna, has received several music awards, including the Art Porter Scholarship, the Bing Cunningham Award, the William Gant Award and a Northwest Arkansas Jazz Society Scholarship.
