Em Sobczak’s senior art exhibition, “Colored Chords: The Art of Listening,” will be on display from April 17 through April 24 in the Glassblock Gallery in the Fred J. Taylor Library and Technology Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. A public reception will be held on Tuesday, April 21, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Sobczak’s exhibition explores the connection between sound and sight in mixed-media artworks inspired by specific songs. “Rather than directly illustrating music, my work operates as a visual interpretation where color reflects tone, composition follows rhythm and materials express mood.”

The Glassblock Gallery’s hours are Mondays from 1 to 3 p.m.; Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m.; Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Fridays from 1 to 3 p.m.
