  • UAM Pre-Vet Club to host petting zoo on April 11, 10am to 2pm
  • Admission is $10 per child with free admission for accompanying parents
  • Event includes a variety of animal encounters, horse rides and cotton candy

Goats, horses and hands-on fun are headed to the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) as the UAM Pre-Vet Club invites the community to a family-friendly petting zoo fundraiser on Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will take place on the UAM campus behind the Agriculture Building and is open to all ages. Admission is $10 per participant, and parents may enter free when accompanying children.

Guests can enjoy an interactive experience with a variety of animals, along with activities included in admission such as animal feed, horse rides and cotton candy.

Beyond the fun, the event supports a meaningful cause. Proceeds will help fund a summer trip to Belize, where UAM Pre-Vet students will provide veterinary care and services to underserved communities. The experience gives students valuable hands-on training while making a direct impact on animal health and welfare.

“This event is a great way for families to enjoy time together while also supporting our students as they prepare for careers in veterinary medicine,” said Dr. Rocky Lindsey, associate professor of animal science and advisor to the pre-veterinary club.

Community members are encouraged to attend and follow posted signs on campus to the event location. For more information, contact Dr. Lindsey at lindseyr@uamont.edu or visit the College of Forestry, Agriculture and Natural Resources on Facebook or Instagram.
