Welcome to the University of Arkansas at Monticello Admissions page for transfer and visiting students. Whether you are continuing your education from another college or taking courses with us temporarily, we are here to help make your transition smooth and straightforward.
Transfer and visiting students bring valuable experience and perspective to our campus community, and we are excited to support you as you take the next step in your academic journey.
You are considered a transfer student if you have previously attended a college or university after graduating from high school (or earning a GED) and plan to continue your education at UAM.
As a transfer student, your prior coursework will be reviewed to determine how your credits apply toward your intended degree program.
A visiting student is currently enrolled at another college or university and plans to take courses at UAM for a short period of time without pursuing a degree at this institution.
Visiting students often attend UAM to:
- Complete courses during summer or winter terms
- Take classes not available at their home institution
- Stay on track with their academic plan
To begin the admission process, transfer and visiting students should:
- Complete the admissions application (no processing fee)
- Submit official transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities (2.00 and good academic/financial standing required for unconditional admission.)
- Provide a high school transcript
- Submit your entrance exam scores (ACT, SAT, or ACCUPLACER) or completion of college course work in Reading, English, and Math
- Review your degree plan or course selection with an advisor
- Complete any additional program-specific requirements, if applicable
UAM evaluates all official transcripts to determine how previously earned credits transfer into your chosen program of study. This process helps ensure you receive maximum credit for completed coursework and stay on track toward graduation.
An official credit evaluation will be provided after admission.
Once admitted, you will be guided through the next steps, including:
- Activating your UAM student account
- Complete your New Student Onboarding in Workday
- Academic advising and degree planning
- Course registration
- Access to student services and campus resources
- Orientation information (if applicable)
Our goal is to make your transition into UAM as seamless as possible.
- Admission requirements may vary depending on GPA, credits earned, and intended program
- Some academic programs may have additional admission criteria
- Early application is encouraged to ensure timely credit evaluation and course planning
