Welcome to the
website of the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
As chancellor, I want to extend a warm welcome to
you and tell you about the educational opportunities
available to you at UAM.
At UAM,
opportunity is a word you’re going to be hearing a
lot in the next few months. It’s the key word in our
centennial slogan “UAM: Celebrating a Century of
Opportunity.” As we move toward our 100th
birthday, we are constantly reminded that UAM (and
Arkansas A&M before it) has always represented
opportunity to generations of young people seeking a
higher education and a better life. That message
resonates as clearly today as it did in 1909.
Many of our
students are the first in their families to attend
college. Others are non-traditional students who
have decided to take advantage of the opportunity to
change careers or complete a dream that began years
ago. The university is constantly exploring and
developing new opportunities to help you obtain a
higher education, including new degree options
available through our Colleges of Technology in
Crossett and McGehee.
As a
comprehensive system of postsecondary education
institutions in southeast Arkansas, our primary goal
is to serve the needs of our students through
teaching, research and public service. I
invite you to continue your virtual visit of the
University of Arkansas at Monticello, and then make
time to visit us in person so that we can become
