The mission of the Journal of Communication is to provide an on-line outlet for peer-reviewed scholarship concerning communication theory, practice, history, and pedagogy, to include mass communication and rhetorical studies.
While the JCS does not discriminate against any particular methodology of analysis, or unit of analysis, the consensus of the Editorial Board is that there is ample opportunity in the discipline for publishing "critical theory", "post-modern" studies, or "sexual identity studies" and that studies of that sort should be sent to other venues.
The JCS is interested in providing an outlet for such work as:In addition, the JCS encourages research consisting of replications of classic studies, the purpose of which is to validate the classic study.
The JCS welcomes scholarship from around the world.
The Editorial Board of the Journal of Communication Studies invites the submission of articles. Manuscripts should not exceed 3,500 words, should follow the stylistic and documentation guidelines of either the MLA Handbook or the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. To facilitate blind review, author's names and institutions should not appear in the text. All submissions should be either as email attachment, or submitted on CD or floppy disk.
The Editor grants authorization to photocopy articles or items for personal research, classroom use, library reserve, or other nonprofit educational purposes, if 1) no fees are assessed except for the actual duplicating costs, 2) the materials are photocopies and not reprints of publications, and 3) the material includes a full bibliographic citation and the statement PHOTOCOPIES BY PERMISSION OF THE ARKANSAS STATE COMMUNICATION ASSOCIATION. This free permission applies to copies for research notes, photocopies placed on reserve, and copying for classroom use beyond the number of copies and frequency permitted by 107-108 of United States Copyright Law.
