Social Work Students Chosen To Present At New Orleans Conference

Melissa Wheeldon (seated, left) of Heber Springs and Morgan Diles (seated, right) of Texarkana, Tex., were recently chosen to represent the University of Arkansas at Monticello at the 34th annual Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors' Conference in New Orleans. Wheedon and Diles, both senior social work majors, presented a poster outlining their research on understanding the benefits of service dogs for individuals with autism. The students also met with representatives from social work graduate schools while hearing presentations on a wide range of topics, including teaching and administering social work programs, field education, global social work, advocacy, and connecting classroom education to community practice.  Also pictured are (standing, from left) Marie Jenkins, director of field education for the UAM social work program, Dana Williams, assistant professor, and Andre Lewis, program director.
