MONTICELLO, AR — Grace Borse of Monticello will present her senior thesis art exhibition at the University of Arkansas at Monticello April 20-27 in the Glassblock Gallery of the Taylor Library and Technology Center. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
An artist's reception will be held April 20 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The exhibition features charcoal portraits revealing moments in time when the subject is caught between concealment and exposure. "In my portraits, I attempt to show the real faces that happen by accident," Borse explained. "As when, for a split second, you're having an in-depth thought and forget that someone might be looking at you. Or when you find something amusing and an unconscious smile escapes the mask. Or when you try to show your artificial face and accidentally reveal the real you.”
