UAM Debate Team Wins Mendoza Debates

MONTICELLO, AR — The debate team from the University of Arkansas at Monticello recently won the cumulative sweepstakes championship and placed second in the tournament sweepstakes at the Mendoza Debates hosted by Lee College in Baytown, Tex.

            Reagan Dobbs, a political science major from Dayton, Tex., captured the individual varsity debate championship and was named the second place varsity speaker. Jacob Chisom, a communication major from Monticello, was a finalist in varsity debate while Cody Bijou, a communication major from Crosby, Tex., was a varsity division semifinalist and the four place varsity speaker. Blake Adkins of Vilonia, a computer information systems major, was the third place speaker in the junior varsity division.

            Others competing for UAM were Gauge Adkins of Vilonia, Kyle Hargis of Warren, and Gabe McDormand of Sheridan.
