Hospitality Services 

Hospitality and Tourism is the fastest growing industry in the world. 
Your path could be one of the following: Tourism, Travel, Restaurants, Lodging, Club Management, Gaming, Amusement and Theme Parks and the list goes on and on and on…

We have three options in the Hospitality Service Program:

Student Learning Outcomes

Teach/Learn practical skills and knowledge necessary for the effective operation of Hospitality Industry.  The overall student learning outcomes for this program are—upon completion of this program, the students will be able to: 

  1. Demonstrate safety and sanitation for food and lodging
  2. Demonstrate safety, care, use and storage rules of chef’s hand tools
  3. Prepare meals at cost per plate
  4. Develop effective reasoning, communication and decision making skills
  5. Demonstrate role of pastry chef and baker
  6. Understand the operational functions of a lodging facility
  7. Present food in professional manner with safe techniques
  8. Demonstrate fundamental supervisory responsibilities

  • HOSP 1103   Culinary Preparation and Presentation
  • HOSP 1113   Principles of Baking
  • BUS    2003   Business English or higher-level language course
  • BUS    2143   Tech Business Mathematics or higher level mathematics course
  • CIS     2223   Microcomputer Applications

Brandon Tolliver, a student in the Hospitality Services Program, demonstrates the proper technique in cutting a pineapple while instructor Paul Smith observes.  The pineapple is the International Symbol for welcome and hospitality.  This began when ship captains would return from a voyage and place
pineapples on their gate post or porch giving notice to friends: "The ship is in! Come join us... Food and drinks for all!"
