UAM Announces Schedule For Second Annual Weevil Spring Spectacular |
|
All alumni and
friends are invited to UAM’s 2nd Annual Weevil Spring
Spectacular. Last year, hundreds of University supporters came
out to support our teams and enjoy a UAM Theatre production.
Please join us again this year for fun and fellowship. The Green-White
spring football game, baseball game, and a performance of the
Walton Jones musical “The 1940s Radio Hour” highlight the second
annual Weevil Spring Spectacular at the University of Arkansas
at Monticello April 13-14, 2012. The weekend kicks
off April 13 with a an autumn preview as head coach Hud Jackson
divides his squad into two teams for a football game to
culminate the end of spring practice. The University hopes to
create a game day atmosphere with tailgating beginning at 4:30.
Jackson and his players will proceed through the tailgaters as
part of the Walk of Champions at 5:30. There will be free food
and music in the area. Kickoff for the
spring game is set for 7 p.m. with free admission. UAM baseball
takes center stage on April 14 as the Boll Weevils host
Southeastern Oklahoma for a single game at 1 p.m. Admission is
free. Later that
evening, UAM Chancellor Jack Lassiter and his wife, Judy, will
host a dinner at 6 p.m. in the Spencer Gallery of the Fine Arts
Center, followed by a performance of “The 1940s Radio Hour” by
the UAM Music Theater Workshop at 7:30. Cost for the dinner and
theater production is $25 per person, $5 for children under 10,
with half of the proceeds to benefit the UAM choral program.
Attendance at the dinner guarantees premium theater seating. For more
