Blossoms Swept In Season Finale

Paul Smith
Sports Information Director

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Despite a 15-kill performance by senior Kameshia Melton (Grapevine, Texas) and a 13-kill effort by junior Taura Rush (Joseph City, Ariz.), the University of Arkansas at Monticello's Cotton Blossoms were unable to overcome a hard-hitting Christian Brothers offense as the Lady Bucs swept to a 3-0 victory over UAM Saturday at Canale Arena.

The Bucs opened with a 30-23 win in game one before taking 30-28 victories in games two and three.

Melton’s 15 kills led all players. Junior Maegan Martin (Burnet, Texas) dished out 44 assists, while freshman Stephanie Hatten (Baytown, Texas) added 26 digs and junior MacKenzie Willis (Andrews, Texas) added 14 digs.

The match concludes the 2007 season for the Cotton Blossoms, who did not qualify for post-season play.
