Rob Doster, current member and past president of AAS who now works at the Bureau of Reclamation in Albuquerque, NM will speak on “Life and Times of the Willow Flycatcher – An Update from the Southwest.” Five field trips scheduled for Saturday include: Two Rivers Park, Bell Slough, Lonoke, Murray Lock & Dan/Cooks Landing and David D. Terry Lock and Dam/Willow Beach. Each offers its own particular habitat which include woods, wetlands, grasslands, marsh and fish ponds. A variety of bird species will be seen. Speaker for the Friday evening dinner will be Paul Hamel on “The Forgotten Cerulean Warblers of the Mid-South.” Hamel works at the Center for Bottomland Hardwoods Research at Stoneville, Miss. Convention registration is $20 per person with evening meals an additional charge. An opportunity will be given for students to present their research in the form of a short research presentation of 12-15 minutes or a poster presentation. All students are encouraged to update the AAS on current research.
