Linna Jones
Art and Entertainment Editor

The Student Government Association and the Students Activities Board met in the John F. Gibson University Center Caucus Room at 12:40 p.m. Sept.11.

The SGA and SAB discussed plans for Constitution Day Sept. 17. The day included voter registration from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and students received the chance to register for a $50 Wal-Mart card. A Debate Round took place in the U.C. Green Room from 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m., and the topic and resolution “The U.S. Constitution should be overhauled.”

SGA President Landon Grimes, senior from Monticello, read part of the U.S. Constitution in the Green Room. The association held the first Movie Night, showing “National Treasure” in the U.C. Green Room at 7 p.m., as well.

The Fred J. Taylor Library will host an exhibit Sept.17 through Sept. 28 for the U.S. Constitution.

SGA also discussed and voted for the theme for Homecoming week.  The students voted for “Safari Show Down” for this year's theme.

Lindsey Kight, director of Student Programs and Activities, said she liked the flow of ideas.

“I think everybody is throwing around good ideas,” Kight said.

   SGA also discussed:

  • a fire works show at the end of the Homecoming game
  • events for each individual day of Homecoming
  • a campus wide block party
  • Student Senate
  • other issues on campus
