Fall Draws Near, Trendsetters Keep Up

Posing - Senior April Wilson models the boycut shorts. This new style moves from the runway to the streets as style innovators like Wilson brave the new trends.

Ladies, your closets should be equipped with at least six sundresses minimum. The flare bootleg jean is out and skinny is in. Combine skinny jeans with ballet flat shoes in every color of the rainbow or peep-toe pumps in every color.

Think chartreuse green and sunflower yellow because these two colors are hot right now in department stores. As the old saying goes, history repeats itself - the whole fad, fashion cycle has made a circle and landed on the late 1960’s styles.

Knee-length baby doll dresses with large buttons, over fitted T-shirts paired with matching ankle-length leggings and sandals can be seen all around campus this year. People may also expect chocolate brown to become the new black. As far as your pop items, metallic colors as well as solid, lead-colored jewelry accent any outfit.

Awesome stores to spot these clothing items include: Herringstones and Kim’s Closet located in Monroe, La., Rainbow located in Pine Bluff, It’s Fashion and Factory Connection located in Monticello and your local Hollister and Abercrombie stores.

Gentlemen, vintage T-shirts and shaggy haircuts make the first two on the top-five list of must-haves for guys this season. The other three hot picks start with Hollister T-shirts, which display a fresh, beach look, matched with frayed jeans and watches with thick, leather straps. Do not forget your shades guys!

The prep look will not completely disappear; however, vintage is in. Also guys, if you wake up in the mornings, have an early class and do not feel like giving it your best, dress wise. You cannot go wrong with a plain, fitted T-shirt, cargo pants or jeans and either crocs, Birkenstocks or solid brown flip-flops.

Last but not least for everyone, faculty included, it is always nice to see support towards your school. Swing by the Bookstore and snatch some weevil pants, shorts or T-shirts and a few hoodies because winter is just around the corner.
