| What’s
Happening in Greek? |
 |
Lori Andrews
Staff Writer
Along with classes gearing up
this past week, so has the Greek community. You
may have seen them helping with Freshmen Move-in
the dormitories, during Orientation or even in
your classes wearing their letters. There will
be many opportunities that you can come and meet
fellow peers who are Greek.
The first activity to meet the Greek community will be “Meet The
Greeks” on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. at Maxwell
Pavilion. Aramark will be catering their dinner
that night at the activity. There will be
horseshoes, volleyball games going on during
time to participate in. This is a time to get to
know your peers who are Greek and just to have a
good time.
The next thing coming up in the Greek Community will be National
Panhellenic Council Recruitment. You might know
this as Female Rush, and the participating
sororities are Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Sigma
Tau and Sigma Sigma Sigma. For any woman interested
in joining a sorority or just wanting to know more
about each chapter on campus, an interest
meeting will be held in Library Conference Room
B on Monday, Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. At this
meeting you will be filling out paperwork to
attend recruitment and bring three identical
pictures of yourself to go with your paperwork.
Formal Recruitment for sororities will be Sept. 13 – 15. Each night
will start at 6:30 p.m. and will meet in the
University Center Green Room. The attire will be
business casual for the first two nights and
dressy for the last night. More specific
directions will be given at the Interest Meeting
on Monday, Sept. 11.
The following week will be North-American Interfraternity
Conference Recruitment. This will be the
fraternity recruitment for Kappa Alpha Order,
Sigma Tau Gamma, Tau Kappa Eplison and Phi
Lambda Chi. They will be hosting their
recruitment activities during Sept. 18 – 22.
More information will be given in the next
issue.
For
anyone interested in joining a sorority or
fraternity on campus, they may speak with our
Student Activies Director, Lindsey Kight. Her
office is in the University Center beside the
cafeteria, and may reach her by email at kight@uamont.edu
or phone number 460-1396.
