Blossoms Make Lasting Impression

The Most Thrilling Part of It All ...

Will Collins
Sports Editor

With all chances of the University of Arkansas-Monticello's volleyball team completing their fist-ever season with a winning record out of reach, there was still that little bit of pride left as they compiled a four-game win streak before being outplayed by the Harding Lady Bison last Thursday night.

With Harding winning its 30th consecutive home match against the Blossoms, there was more to this game than that.

Before going into the match, UAM undermined conference leader Arkansas Tech while also defeating Henderson State in their longest winning streak of the season. To go along with that, Amanda Sayre and Amie Kronk received offensive and defensive awards for the week of Oct. 18.

With first-year player Kasey McBrearty ranking third in the conference in the kills column, good things are still to come out of the inaugural season. The team shows great effort and desire to play the game and to play it well. The team leads the entire Gulf South Conference in digs, plus they are finally coming together as a team, which is what was expected of them from the jump.

With only four games remaining, the Blossoms have surely made and will leave the mark of a "don't quit" impression upon the UAM campus. I can only hope that others will do the same, because when it comes down to it, wins and losses are what really matters in sports.
