Staff Writer Weevil Wars tied for the largest regular-season debate tournament in International Public Debate Association history. "There were 92 contestants," forensic coach Scott Kuttenkuler said. Although the tournament posted record participation, only a couple of debaters competed as the entries from the University of Arkansas at Monticello were limited due to hosting responsibilities. The debate team will make its first appearance Oct. 28 at the University of Louisiana Monroe. Their previous tournament was delayed due to Hurricane Rita.
"We are hoping to get on the board," Kuttenkuler said. The forensics team took second place in International Public Debate for the 2004-2005 season. Kuttenkuler said the team will have plenty of opportunities to keep on track for this season. Have a comment?
