Weevils Hope to Ring Victory Bell

"You can ring my be-e-ell, ring my bell (ring my bell, ring-a-ling-a-ling)," as the lyrics read in the Anita Ward song.  The Weevils of the University of Arkansas at Monticello have yet to ring the campus victory bell, located by Weevil Pond near the center of campus.

Last year they rang the bell three times, but this year things are a little different. With an all-new coaching staff and pretty much a very newly arranged roster, the woes continue to sound. The Weevils have three more chances to ring the bell with matches coming up against Delta State, Arkansas Tech and next week’s televised game versus Harding.

Harding has been shut down most of the season, but they did upset No.1-ranked Valdosta State Blazers.  With an ESPN video crew suspected to be in attendance for the game, history and big plays are surely to be made.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13.  The Weevils and all of UAM would be ecstatic to ring bells of joy and victory.
