The University of Arkansas at Monticello has reported a 23% increase in overall headcount from fall 2024 to fall 2025.

This fall, UAM has matched its fall 2024 undergraduate enrollment numbers and seen significant growth in multiple areas. Concurrent student enrollment has increased by 136% during this same period. The University of Arkansas at Monticello College of Technology-Crossett and the University of Arkansas at Monticello College of Technology-McGehee have achieved increases in headcount, as well.

In the past year, UAM has continued to create new academic opportunities for students through various initiatives and partnerships, including expanded campus-within-a-campus models with National Park College and the University of Arkansas-East Arkansas Community College.

“Our enrollment growth reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to higher education across Southeast Arkansas and beyond,” said Dr. Peggy Doss, chancellor of UAM. “Our innovative team has worked hard to drive tremendous growth in our concurrent enrollment program. These high school students are the future of UAM, and we are so excited to serve as their gateway to a college education. Additionally, through our campus-within-a-campus partnerships with National Park College and the University of Arkansas-East Arkansas Community College, we have created additional affordable pathways for students to access and complete their education at UAM.”

UAM also has plans for further expansions. The university will introduce its first Ph.D. program during the spring of 2026, pending approval from the Higher Learning Commission, and initiate a pilot UAM Collegiate Academy program in collaboration with Drew Central Public Schools, which is expected to launch next fall.

“UAM is focused on the future, seeking ways we can leverage our small, close-knit community to be agile and innovative in developing programs that serve our students and strengthen the region’s educational opportunities and workforce needs,” Dr. Doss said. “The upcoming launch of the UAM Collegiate Academy and the introduction of a doctoral program in forest resources are significant milestones in this journey, and we are eager to carry this momentum into the new academic year.”
