Genetics/Cell Biology
The University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) (www.uamont.edu) is seeking applicants for a position as full-time, nine-month, tenure track, Assistant/Associate Professor of Biology to begin August 2021.
UAM, one of thirteen campuses of the University of Arkansas System, is located in southeastern Arkansas in the beautiful timberlands, rich in outdoor recreation activities, and approximately 100 miles south of Little Rock. UAM is a comprehensive, residential and commuter, undergraduate institution also offering selected masters degree programs.
Biology is part of the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences which offers baccalaureate degrees in Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and Natural Science, with two options in each major. Biology has options of a traditional biology degree and one in Organismal Biology that is more focused on field biology. The School has an exceptional record of successfully preparing students for graduate programs and pre-professional programs such as pre-medicine, pre-pharmacy, pre-veterinary medicine, and the allied health sciences. The School provides support courses for students majoring in Forestry, Agriculture, Nursing, and Education, as well as the general education curriculum. Responsibilities: Duties include teaching Cell Biology, lectures and labs in Genetics, and other general education biology, or upper level courses in the applicant’s field of interest. Dedicated research space is available, including a shared research laboratory equipped for genetics or molecular research. Non-teaching duties will include academic advising, committee work, and scholarly research involving undergraduate students. Summer teaching for extra pay is an option; however, it is not guaranteed.
Qualifications: A doctorate in biology or related field is required. Post-doctoral research and teaching experience at the college level are preferred.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications including excellent fringe benefits.
