Partnership Coordinator/Assistant Professor
The University of Arkansas at Monticello invites applications for a 12-month tenure-track position of Partnership Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Education. The UAM School of Education enjoys a strong reputation in the preparation of quality educators in Southeast Arkansas and throughout the state. As a CAEP-accredited institution and a member of a consortium of fifteen school partners, UAM maintains close working relationships with area schools as well as many state agencies, higher education institutions, and other projects.
The University of Arkansas at Monticello, one of thirteen campuses of the University of Arkansas system is located in Southeastern Arkansas approximately 100 miles south of metropolitan Little Rock. UAM is a comprehensive, residential and commuter, undergraduate institution also offering selected master’s degree programs.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities include 3 to 6 hours per semester of teaching face-to-face and/or online courses, supervision of interns, and advisement of students. Administrative duties include responsibility for development of placements for all field experiences and clinical internships for teacher candidates; admitting candidates into the Teacher Education program; expertise in establishing working relationships with all P-12 constituencies and the ability to work with state agencies regarding teaching licensure and curriculum matters; assist in developing course schedules; coordinate annual updating of the School of Education Clinical Internship Handbook, Teacher Education Handbook, Cooperating Teacher Handbook, and University Supervisor Handbook; assist in gathering data for the School of Education database; assist in developing continuing education/professional development courses; assist with CAEP accreditation, and seminars for pre-service and in-service teachers.
Qualifications: Doctorate in education preferred (ABD considered) with specific expertise in teacher education preparation. A Master’s degree in an education related field with exceptional expertise/experience will be considered at an instructor level. Demonstrated leadership/administrative qualities and skills; at least three years teaching experience in P-12 public education; and strengths in organization, technology, and school collaboration.
Additional preferred qualifications are expertise in curriculum development/teaching in public schools and higher education; experience with CAEP accreditation; and experience working with DESE. Evidence of ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds; in-depth knowledge of Arkansas and national policies governing education preparation programs; evidence of knowledge in using assessments/data to drive instruction; evidence of knowledge of effective research-based pedagogical strategies; evidence of ability to develop and facilitate collaborative teams; and evidence of expertise in instructional technology and modeling use of instructional technology in teaching.
