Welcome

Dear Student:

I want to extend to you a warm welcome to the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM). I believe our University to be a special place and a special community. I hope you can experience the distinctiveness of our quaint, but progressive campus.

The pursuit of your academic degree is the major purpose of your attendance at UAM. However, the University abounds with opportunities beyond the classroom that can enhance your personal growth and development. Getting involved is not difficult on our campus. Whether you desire to play sports, participate in an organization, serve as a student tutor, or to experience other world cultures, we have a place for you. The University of Arkansas at Monticello has a number of programs and services that can assist your needs. For example, UAM hosts over 60 campus organizations that provide a stimulating and interesting venue for learning life skills, as well as enriching your educational tenure. In addition, many offices offer on-campus employment for UAM students.

The Student Handbook is an invaluable campus resource for you. It provides an explanation of campus services, policies, and information. Additionally, it describes established standards of conduct that help us preserve an environment that is conducive to learning and protecting individual rights. The UAM Student Handbook is available on-line. I encourage you to take the time to read about the opportunities and expectations of your new community.

Finally, stretch yourself, attend class, get involved, and grow! These will and can be the best years of your life.

Best wishes for a rewarding and meaningful year!

Sincerely,

Dr. Clay Brown

Clay E. Brown, Ph.D.
