Upward Bound Program |
|
The Upward Bound Pre-College Program is the oldest of the
Federal TRIO Programs and has been a part
of the UAM community since 1979. Upward Bound targets low-income
high school students who may also be among the first in their
family to consider going to college. The project provides
intensive academic and personal support designed to motivate and
prepare the students for college. Program participants are brought to the UAM campus bi-weekly
on Wednesdays during the academic year and participate in a
six-week residential program during the summer designed to
simulate a college-going experience for the participants. The Upward Bound Pre-College Program is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The Upward Bound service area includes eight high schools in five of the following southeast Arkansas counties: Ashley, Bradley, Chicot, Desha, and Drew.
