Associate of Applied Sciences Degree in General Technology

Graduates of technical certificate programs may choose to continue their studies and earn an Associate of Applied Science in General Technology Degree.  Students who wish to pursue this degree have two tracts to choose from: 

Option 1:   A student can complete all of the requirements for one of the following Technical Certificates:

Administrative Office Technology     Health Information Technology
Computer Maintenance/Networking Health Professions
Early Childhood Education Hospitality Services
Electromechanical Technology Practical Nursing
Electromechanical Technology-Instrumentation Welding

PLUS the required 15 hours of general education courses along with additional elective hours in either technical or non-technical courses, which will give the student a total of 60 credit hours.

Option 2: A student can complete 24 hours in a major technical area AND 21 hours in the technical core of support courses from other related technical disciplines AND complete 15 hours of required general education courses. With the approval of the academic advisor or unit head and the Vice-Chancellor of Academic Affairs, the student may select courses from one or more technical disciplines and develop a coherent technical program that will prepare him/her for employment in occupational and technical fields.
