   When gathering information for your beat backgrounder, be sure to look through the archives and the morgue for old articles relevant to your beat. Copy the url for your backgrounder as links will be used in a subject index to help the staff; you'll get future credit through your inclusion in the author index. This will also give you an idea of the diversity of articles that can be written on your topic.
