COT-McGehee Student Places First in State Nursing Competition

   Heather McKinzie of Dumas, a practical nursing student at the College of Technology-McGehee, won first place in the skills competition at the 11th annual Arkansas Licensed Practical Nursing Association’s skills competition held April 5-6 in Batesville. 

   McKinzie was judged for knowledge and performance as well as client-nurse interaction, manual dexterity and documentation skills based on what she has learned in the classroom, laboratory and through clinical experiences. 

   McKinzie was among practical nursing students from across the state taking part in the competition. 

   Practical nursing instructors Kim Ray, R.N., and Nikki Calhoun, R.N., attended the conference with the students.
