AETN Special Puts Elvis Back on Stage

Arkansas Educational Television Network

CONWAY — In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death, a concert was staged at the Pyramid Arena in his hometown of Memphis in 2002. “Elvis Lives: The 25th Anniversary Concert” will air on the Arkansas Educational Television Network March 5 at 8:30 p.m. and March 9 at 10:30 p.m.

Through the magic of modern technology, Elvis is reunited with his original TCB band, his back-up singers and his musical director. “Elvis Lives” utilizes a technique in which a recorded past performance is integrated in real time with supporting musicians and singers live on stage. This technique was used before, but only one song was performed and without a live audience. Footage was taken from concerts such as the Hawaii performance, which remains one of the biggest satellite concerts ever.

“(Elvis’) vocals were lifted from the masters, and the vocals and instrumentation are live on stage at that moment,” Co-Executive Producer Joe Moscheo said. “It’s better than any recorded work that you might have on a CD. The screen in the middle is Elvis, and the two side screens are actually what’s going on live.”

AETN provides lifelong learning opportunities, improves and enhances Arkansans’ lives and celebrates the unique culture of Arkansas through its programming. AETN’s six transmitters and numerous cable system connections give it statewide reach.
