- This panel examines how social networking sites and cellular technology have impacted human
interaction, and if these technological developments have sparked a need to reexamine traditional
communication theory. Collectively, these papers seek to spark conversation about whether or
not the emergence of new media has fundamentally challenged existing communication theory.

- This panel explores how college students' use of various communication technologies impacts
their interpersonal relationships. These scholars explore how text messaging and social
networking sites shape relationships as well as examine how technological dependence
influences relationships. Further, they will discuss how college students are using technological
