Mass Communication Radio Project

You and your group are responsible for making a 5 to 8 minute radio show. The project will be taped on cassette tape and played for the class. Your group must include the following elements.

  1. A DJ, announcer or equivalent voice must be on the tape. You may use more than one, but you are required to use one.
  2. A script must be approved by the teacher before you begin taping. This script must contain a complete transcript - verbatim - of your tape! This script and the final tape must be suitable for classroom listening!
  3. Music may be used on the tape. However, you will not be allowed more than 90 seconds of music. If you wish to include bits and pieces of various songs that illustrate the musical format of your station, you may, the point of this is not to tape 5 to 8 minutes of music.
  4. Advertisement. You must include a commercial. You may not tape an existing commercial. You must write your own.
  5. The state must have a name and logo. For example, Kool 95 or Magic 105. You may not use existing call letters nor may you use any call letters or name which might be construed as obscene.
  6. Contest. You must play at least one game or contest on the tape. Be creative and don't use existing games!
  7. News, weather, and/or sports segment. An update variety will work best. Again, feel free to be creative and have fun.

Note:

Your time to work on this assignment is limited. Please be sure that each and every member of the group contributes and does their part. You will receive a group and an individual grade.
