Oral Communication Units and Activities

COLOR MY WORLD

Unit(s): Interpersonal Communication

Purpose:

The purpose of this exercise is for students to get to know something about themselves and the other members of the class.

Objective:

For students to become more relaxed with the class and themselves.

Materials:

  1. "What I would be if I were..." handout
  2. Markers and/or crayons

Procedure:

  1. Ask each student to remember how much fun elementary school was.
  2. Announce that they are returning to the "good ole days" when school was not only fun, but easy.
  3. Pass out "What I would be if I were..." handout and ask each student to color a picture for each category.
  4. Stress that artistic ability is not the key - creativity and fun are!
  5. Let students share what they have drawn in one or more categories with the class.
