Purpose:
To build skills in understanding the interpretation of vocal variety and its meaning
Objective:
Pairs of students will work on delivering words in a believable fashion that will result in a completed story.
Materials:
Situations upon which to build stories
Procedure:
- Divide the class into pairs.
- Have a sentence with an action started, but not completed, and give it to two individuals who share one character who is telling a story.
- While telling the story, students should monitor the inflection, rate, and volume of the other person so that it becomes a story with action.
- Performers will alternate saying each word.
- Sample prompts:
A. I never thought I would ever...
B. I begin to shake every time I start to...
