Unit(s): Stage Movement/Acting
Purpose:
To create an awareness of what scene partners are doing on stage
To develop concentration and creative thinking
Objective:
The students will create dialogue that responds to and explains motivation for spontaneous movement in a scene.
Materials:
- Several chairs
- Prompts or situations
Procedure:
- Send 4 students to the front of the room to perform.
- Provide them with several chairs and a situation (i.e. the doctor's office).
- Instruct them that at each moment during the scene, one person must be standing, one sitting, one lying, and one bending.
- When any person changes his position, the other three must immediately adjust to another position so that there will always be one standing, sitting, lying, and bending at all times.
- Remind students that their dialogue must relate to their changes in position.
