Unit(s): Acting/Improvisation/Characterization
Purpose:
To challenge the student's creativity and improvisational skills
Objective:
The student will develop believable characters and demonstrate structure.
Materials:
Prompt or topics are give to each student performer.
Examples:
A. Two cooks opening a new restaurant
B. Two sea shells on the sea shore
C. Two convicts planning a breakout
Procedure:
- Students will establish improvisations that will follow the correct structure and establish believable characters.
- After the students have had between thirty or forty- five seconds then others may yell freeze.
- The performers then freeze in their position and the person who yelled freeze taps the shoulder of one of the persons in the improvisation.
- He/She will then change the plot and the characters and start a new scene using the body stance as a prompt for the scene.
