Partner Piece

Unit(s): Acting

Purpose:

To synthesize the skills necessary to effectively communicate thoughts from the printed text to the audience

To demonstrate the acting skills and techniques required to perform duet acting as an art form

To gain poise and confidence from this form of communication skill

Objective:

Students will demonstrate skill at presenting duet acting scenes.

Materials:

  1. Duet acting scripts and play books.
  2. Props and costumes (optional)

Procedure:

  1. Begin with a lecture or an entire unit on acting techniques and theory.
  2. Allow students to choose partners and peruse acting scripts and play books or assign partners and scenes.
  3. Assist students in the preparation of effective introductions.
  4. Provide class time for the blocking and rehearsal of scenes. Assist students in the preparation of effective blocking and memorization.
  5. Have students provide props and costumes (optional).
  6. Allow students to perform scenes for classmates.
  7. Provide students with critiques of their performances.
