Drama Units and Activities

Secret Observation

Unit(s): Acting/Recall/Observation

Purpose:

To hone observation skills

Objective:

The student will increase observation/reporting skills.

Materials:

Each student provides: One non-see through sack with three every day items.

Instruct "nothing indecent/obscene, etc."

Procedure:

All of the sacks are placed at the front of the room. When I blow the whistle, they make a dash to grab any sack that is NOT their own. They are given 3 minutes to observe each item. They are told previously to observe: touch, smell, color, texture, etc.

At 3 minutes, I again blow the whistle and they are to immediately close up the sack and items. They then have three minutes to describe, in a detailed writing, each item in the sack. The grade will be determined by how much detail and how valid that detail really is.
