Drama Units and Activities

"Throw the Bum Out!"

Unit(s): Acting/Concentration

Purpose:

To allow the drama student a chance to develop his/her concentration skills

Objective:

The student will have an opportunity to develop and increase concentration skills.

Materials:

2-4 minute comedy routine, comic monologue, or, as is usually the case, 4 to 5 jokes.

Procedure:

Assign comic pieces several days prior to activity.

While they are each telling their "jokes," previously appointed hecklers begin heckling them during their presentation.

To add heat, video these performances and they then evaluate their own concentration or lack of concentration in the middle of the fray!
