Movement for Film

Unit(s): Stage Movement

Purpose:

To demonstrate acting for the camera and the benefits of camera angles to enhance a performance

Objective:

Students will communicate the message of a popular song non-verbally while being video taped.

Materials:

  1. Video camera / Dubbing equipment
  2. Popular Songs

Procedure:

  1. Students (in groups of up to five) choose a popular song that they wish to visually communicate to an audience. (This is not a lip-sync activity.)
  2. Brainstorm ideas of how to best communicate the message in the song.
  3. Video tape the action.
  4. Dub music with the video.
