Sample Judge Cover letter

Thank you for agreeing to judge the State tournament. We could not do this tournament without you. Your efforts are appreciated.

In this ballot package you will find the rules of the event you are judging. Also, there is an entry for each person in your section. We ask that you complete the ballots carefully. The students are very interested in your comments.

Each ballot allows you to rate a student on a scale from Superior to Poor. Please circle a rating for each student. Recognize that these students have worked diligently to get to this tournament. We hope that you will use the lower ratings only when truly merited. Certificates are awarded to those students who receive a superior or Excellent rating. These ratings should also be noted on the judge's ranking sheet.

The ranking sheet allows you to rank students 1, 2, 3, etc. This information is used to advance students to semi-final and final rounds. there can be no ties in ranking on this form. However, a ballot may show several fourth place finishes. A student ranked number one is in your opinion the best performer in that section.

Finally, please turn your ballot into the judge's table as soon as possible. Do not take them with you to another round.

Again, thank you for your help. we hope you have enjoyed the experience.

Sincerely,
