UAM ARK-LSAMP

The Arkansas Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (ARK-LSAMP) is a collaborative alliance of eight Arkansas institutions, including the University of Arkansas at Monticello.  The goal of this project is to increase the number of  under-represented minority students who graduate in STEM disciplines and ultimately enter research careers.  The ARK-LSAMP project is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

At UAM, we further the goals of ARK-LSAMP through: 

• Student scholarships and stipends

• The ARK-LSAMP Summer Academy for incoming freshmen

• Opportunities to engage in STEM research, with pay

• Summer internships at research institutions

• Specific instruction on research philosophy and methodology

• A nurturing and engaging group atmosphere

Interested in becoming a part of the UAM ARK-LSAMP experience?   Each ARK-LSAMP student participant must:

• Have a high school GPA or 2.9 or higher

• Have a composite ACT score of 19 or above

• Complete all application requirements for admission to UAM

• Declare a major in one of the STEM fields of study at UAM
