MONTICELLO, AR — The seventh annual UAM Bullying Awareness Event will be held October 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Weevil Pond at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Organized by the Exercise Science/Physical Education Club, the event is designed to raise public awareness of bullying in schools and society. Information booths will be set up around Weevil Pond to display posters and hand out educational materials about the dangers of bullying. Participants may register for door prizes.
MONTICELLO, AR — An exhibition of paintings by Rick Sikes, director of The Downtown Gallery in Monroe, La., will be on display through November 17 in the Glassblock Gallery of the Taylor Library and Technology Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Gallery hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 to10 a.m. and 12 to 1 p.m.; and Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Members of the University of Arkansas at Monticello debate team won awards at last week's Hot and Spicy Debate Tournament hosted by Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. Kyle Hargis, a communications major from Warren, was a varsity debate finalist and was named the second place varsity speaker. Blake Adkins, a computer information systems major from Vilonia, was named the first place speaker in the professional division. MONTICELLO, AR — Twelve women have been selected to the 2017 homecoming court at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. UAM will celebrate homecoming October 21. The homecoming queen will be selected by a vote of the student body and announced during pre-game ceremonies prior to UAM’s football game with Southern Nazarene University.
MONTICELLO, AR — The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra will perform with the University of Arkansas at Monticello's Jazz Band One at a free public concert Thursday, October 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the UAM Fine Arts Center. Based in Savannah, Ga., the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra includes lead vocalists Jeremy Davis and Clay Johnson performing with a 17-piece big band and covering much of the Great American Songbook with a stylistic nod to Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. MONTICELLO, AR — Parents and family members of University of Arkansas at Monticello students will be guests of the university at Parent-Family Appreciation Day this Saturday. The day's events begin with a registration and reception from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center and conclude with the UAM-East Central Oklahoma football game, which kicks off at 6 p.m. at Convoy Leslie-Cotton Boll Stadium.
MONTICELLO, AR — Tyler Raines knows trees, particularly those on the University of Arkansas at Monticello campus. Since June, Raines, a junior forestry student from Warren, has worked closely with University Forester Chris Stuhlinger to compile and maintain a comprehensive inventory of every tree on campus, a daunting task made easier with new software and hardware that creates a file on each tree with its location, species, diameter and relative health.

MONTICELLO, AR — The University of Arkansas at Monticello will hold its last summer registration session for incoming freshmen July 10, according to Tawana Greene, executive director of admissions and enrollment management. Only students who have completed the admission process may register during this session.
