UAM Receives Approval For First Completely Online Baccalaureate Degree

MONTICELLO, AR — The University of Arkansas at Monticello has received approval for its first 100 percent online undergraduate degree program. The UA Board of Trustees and the Higher Education Coordinating Board have approved a bachelor of science degree in education studies, which will be offered totally online. The non-licensure program may be taken by anyone but is designed for non-traditional students unable to return to school and for public school paraprofessionals.

UAM Wins State Debate Championship

MONTICELLO, AR — The debate team at the University of Arkansas at Monticello captured the Arkansas state championship and placed second overall in the Southern Regional Debate and Forensics Championship Tournament held recently at Louisiana State University-Shreveport. The event attracted teams representing 22 colleges and universities from Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi.

Forestry Club to Hold Field Day Competition February 13

MONTICELLO, AR — Forestry and natural resources students from the University of Arkansas at Monticello will put their lumberjack skills on display at the UAM Forestry Club’s annual Field Day competition February 13.

UAM To Observe International Education Week February 8-12

MONTICELLO, AR — Meals from different cultures around the world will be part of International Education Week at the University of Arkansas at Monticello February 8-12. Aramark Campus Dining Services will feature international meals from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day that week. The international meals are also available to the public and will be served in the main dining hall of the John F. Gibson University Center at a cost of $7.92 per person.

Wallace Trust Scholarship Deadline Is March 1

MONTICELLO, Ark. — Graduates of McGehee High School and persons living in a 10 to 15-mile radius of McGehee have until March 1 to apply for the Joseph F. Wallace Trust Foundation Scholarship to attend any of the three campuses of the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

Applications Available February 1 For Majors Scholarship

MONTICELLO, AR — Applications for the Gerald and Sue Majors Endowed Scholarship for graduates of Star City High School will be available beginning February 1 through the Star City High School counselor or the Office of Admissions at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

UAM To Host Information Night At Stuttgart’s Grand Prairie Center January 25

MONTICELLO, AR — High school students in the Stuttgart area trying to decide which college to attend may learn more about the University of Arkansas at Monticello at UAM Information Night January 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Grand Prairie Center, 2709 Highway 65 South, in Stuttgart. The event is specifically for students in Stuttgart, DeWitt, Lonoke, England, Hazen, Clarendon, Des Arc, Brinkley, and all branches of Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas.

Weevil Welcome Days Set For February 5 and 8

MONTICELLO, AR — High school seniors and their parents will have a chance to visit the University of Arkansas at Monticello and learn more about college life during Weevil Welcome Days on Friday, February 5 and Monday, February 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon in the UAM Fine Arts Center.

UAM STEM Center To Host Leadership for Girls Conference March 29

MONTICELLO, AR — The University of Arkansas at Monticello STEM Center will host a one-day STEM Leadership for Girls Conference March 29 for girls in grades 10 through 12 as well as college freshmen and sophomores. The conference is designed to promote interest in fields traditionally filled by men.
