MONTICELLO, AR — Faith, family and an unswerving belief in the value of education form the foundation of Moses Goldmon’s life. The eighth of 10 children, Goldmon learned about faith and family from his parents, Curtis and Barbara Goldmon. He learned the value of education at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, thanks to a faculty member whose background mirrored his. Today, Goldmon is the executive vice president and chaplain of Lane College in Jackson, Tenn., and the 55th recipient of UAM’s highest honor, the Distinguished Alumnus Award.
MONTICELLO, AR — Dr. Kate Stewart, professor of English at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, has been selected as one of two 2017 Outstanding Alpha Chi Sponsors nationwide. The award was presented at the Alpha Chi Annual Convention held recently in Louisville, Ky., and was based on outstanding service to the UAM Chapter of Alpha Chi, the national collegiate honor society.

Students in Dr. Bob Stark's agricultural policy class at the University of Arkansas at Monticello met with members of the southeast Arkansas legislative delegation recently for an agricultural policy roundtable. Legislators discussed the recently completed session of the Arkansas General Assembly and its impact on agricultural policy and answered students' questions concerning the session.
MONTICELLO, AR — Rachel Morgan of Dermott will present her senior piano recital at the University of Arkansas at Monticello April 23 at 3 p.m. in the Harris Recital Hall of the UAM Music Building. The performance is free and open to the public.
The Wildlife Society at the University of Arkansas at Monticello placed 11th out of 24 colleges and universities competing in the recent Southeast Wildlife Society Conclave competition hosted by Mississippi State University. UAM placed eighth in the overall academic competition. Individually, Gaby Clemons finished third in dendrology and the team of Cody Martin, Koven Minor, Wesley Holley and Jacob Sas placed second in the obstacle course competition. MONTICELLO, AR — Two psychology students from the University of Arkansas at Monticello presented a poster of their original research at the annual convention of Southwestern Psychological Association (SWPA) in San Antonio, Tex., March 31-April 2.
MONTICELLO, AR — Grace Borse of Monticello will present her senior thesis art exhibition at the University of Arkansas at Monticello April 20-27 in the Glassblock Gallery of the Taylor Library and Technology Center. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
