MONTICELLO, AR - The use of high-resolution imagery to map the distribution of trees in bottomland forests is the subject of a research paper published recently by a University of Arkansas at Monticello forestry student and his academic advisor. Bishwa Sapkota, a graduate student from Nepal enrolled in the UAM School of Forestry and Natural Resources, along with his advisor, Dr. Lu Liang, recently published work from their research in the Journal of Sustainable Forestry.
All eight members of the 2017 practical nursing class at the UAM College of Technology-McGehee have taken and passed the National Council Licensure Examination-Practical Nurse (NCLEX-PN) examination. MONTICELLO, AR - The debate and forensics team at the University of Arkansas at Monticello placed second in the Arkansas sweepstakes competition and third in the Southern Region debate sweepstakes at the Southern Forensics Championship Tournament hosted over the weekend by Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. The tournament included competitors from 21 colleges and universities from Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas and Tennessee. Students competed for both regional and individual state awards.
MONTICELLO, AR - The University of Arkansas at Monticello named 207 students to the Chancellor's List for the fall 2017 semester and another 352 students to the Dean's List, according to Carol Dolberry, registrar. Selection to the Chancellor's List requires a grade point average of 4.0 on at least 12 semester hours of course credit at the 1000-4000 level. The Dean's List requires a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, also on at least 12 semester hours of course credit at the 1000-4000 level.
MONTICELLO, AR - Crystal Halley, director of academic advising at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, has been appointed assistant vice chancellor for academic affairs Halley has directed UAM's academic advising since joining the university staff in 2007. She also serves as an adjunct instructor in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, the School of Business, and the Division of General Studies.
