MONTICELLO, AR - John Harvey, director of athletics and head baseball coach at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, has decided to relinquish his duties as athletics director to concentrate on baseball, according to a joint announcement by Harvey and UAM Chancellor Karla Hughes.
MONTICELLO, AR - Kyle Lem has been named interim softball coach at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Lem was an assistant coach for the late Alvy Early for the past three seasons, assisting Early in all phases of the program. He served as recruiting coordinator, organizing campus visits and recruiting events. He also worked with UAM pitchers and was responsible for in-game pitch calling.
MONTICELLO, AR - The University of Arkansas at Monticello is merging its academic programs in agriculture, forestry and natural resources. The School of Forestry and Natural Resources and the School of Agriculture will now be the College of Forestry, Agriculture and Natural Resources. The merger was formally approved recently by the UA System Board of Trustees.

MONTICELLO, AR - The winningest coach in the history of college athletics in Arkansas has coached his last game. Alvy Early, who won more than any coach in the history of college athletics in Arkansas, regardless of the sport or division, finally met an opponent he couldn't defeat. Early lost a short, sudden battle with cancer today, ending a storybook coaching career that covered a half century. Early coached the women's basketball and softball teams at the University of Arkansas at Monticello for 39 years, including three years when he coached both sports and served as the school's athletics director at the same time, never missing a beat. Before coming to UAM, he was a successful high school coach in West Fork.
