McGehee Practical Nursing Graduates Achieve 100 Percent Pass Rate For Fourth Consecutive Year On the NCLEX-PN

The 2016 practical nursing graduates of the University of Arkansas at Monticello College of Technology-McGehee achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the National Council of Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN), according to Bob Ware, vice chancellor of the McGehee campus. UAM COT-McGehee is the only program in the state with a consecutive four-year, 100 percent pass rate. UAM Debate Finishes Third At Arkansas Tech Tournament

MONTICELLO, AR — The debate team at the University of Arkansas at Monticello took third place in four different team categories at last week's Team Me Up/TECHnically Speaking Swing Debate Tournaments hosted by Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. The competition featured two tournaments in one, with awards given for results in each individual tournament and overall awards for both competitions. Both tournaments were sanctioned by the International Public Debate Association (IPDA).

MONTICELLO, AR — Being president of Arkansas A&M College was never at the top of Claude Babin's wish list. When then-President Jack Mears resigned in early 1962 after reaching an impasse with the A&M board over a variety of issues, Board Chairman Clifton Trigg asked Dr. Babin to apply for the position. UAM Debate Wins Team Sweepstakes Award At Bossier Parrish Tournament

MONTICELLO, AR — The debate team at the University of Arkansas at Monticello continued its winning ways at the Bossier Parrish Community College Eddy Shell Invitational Debate Tournament held recently in Bossier City, La. UAM captured the first place sweepstakes award in team competition, placed third in individual sweepstakes and second in the overall sweepstakes while winning the Cumulative Excellence Award and the Debate Commander Award for posting a winning percentage of 65.9 percent, highest in the tournament.

MONTICELLO, AR — The Chamber Choir of the University of Arkansas at Monticello will present a concert of Baroque music on Friday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m. at Little Rock's Calvary Baptist Church, located at 5700 Cantrell Road. Research Studies Effect Of Video Games On Training College Students' Reaction Times

MONTICELLO, AR — The effect of video games on training college students' reaction times is the subject of a research paper by a University of Arkansas at Monticello psychology professor and two recent UAM graduates. The paper, written by Dr. Seungyeon Lee, assistant professor of psychology, in collaboration with Michael Todd Pickett of Wilmar and Gina Ashcraft of White Hall, both 2016 UAM graduates, was published in the current edition of National Teacher Education Journal, a nationally-refereed journal for educators in K-12, community college and university settings.
